Stone Age Fibercraft: Tools & Techniques
Fiber Art is quite literally the tie that binds all else together. In this workshop participants will learn how to make cordage and different styles of rope. Various wrap and twist methods will be explored through working a variety of processed and unprocessed natural materials, with a discussion on respectful harvesting ethics. Learn how ancient people processed plants and trees into string, cordage, rope, nets, weaving, mats, baskets, clothing & more. This workshop will feature exhibits & samples, along with an instructional demonstration to allow participants to try hands-on techniques with various materials. The differences in textures and types of materials make this experience fun for learners of all ages. After learning about harvesting and processing natural materials, view examples of the applications of cordage and the possibilities of its end uses.
